9/16/2011: My apologies for the delayed updates! I've been so busy that I don't even know what I've been doing, but here they finally are. Galleries one and two are updated today, gallery 3 will follow on schedule next week, Gallery 4 the week after, and then we'll be back on schedule! :) -MP

5/7/2011: What a nightmare the past few weeks have been. It all started with a Trojan Horse and ended with a complete reformatting. Fortunately, all but a few programs were saved, unfortunately, those programs were the ones used to keep this site updated. But we're back and will be up-to-date by tomorrow. Enjoy. -MP

1/1/2011: Wow! It's already time to say "Happy New Year" again. So, HAPPY NEW YEAR! To you. And to Derek. And Josh. And Adam. And everybody who has made Derek's Universe possible through the years, including the photographers, the models, the webmasters, the web hosts and others. Here's hoping that this year is the best one yet for all of you! As I noted last year, we have still only posted a fraction of the original art from Derek. If you have any ideas for themes, if there pictures you are particularly looking for, or news you want to share, just fire off an email from the e-mail link - it is now checked at least weekly. The Beautiful Youth Project and Going Foto continue to produce great new photo galleries each week, and we urge you to visit their websites. And finally, I'm back on track with adding "Music Find of the Month" to the links page, with five today to make up for the missed months. Cheers! -MP

7/03/10: We have a new up-date schedule! Beginning with the July 3rd update of Gallery 1, one Gallery will be updated every two weeks. This means that two weeks after Gallery 1, Gallery 2 will be updated and two weeks later Gallery 3 will be. The effect will be that each Gallery will now stay up for 6 weeks instead of the current 4 to 5 weeks. Gallery 4 will remain a Bonus Gallery, updated on no particular schedule. Generally, each Gallery is now likely to have more pictures than in the past, and Gallery 3 will have a better flow of Derek's classics from Made To Model, Roadrunner and Going Foto. The Music Find of the Month (on the links page) will continue to be updated with the first Gallery update of the month. As always, your comments are welcome - just click on the email link from the Home page. -MP

2/6/10: The important news is that Derek's Universe might be moving! The web host has other plans for the future so we will be parking this site elsewhere. It's not certain if we will keep the same web address, but if not hopefully they'll be enough time to post notices and forwards, but you should note our email address in case you find us missing one day. 1/2/10: Happy New Year! It's the year '10. Doesn't that sound strange? It's unbelievable that Derek's Universe is over 8 years old. And even more remarkable that there are still hundreds of original Derek art pieces that have yet to be posted. Do you have any exciting resolutions? Share them with us on the Guest Book page. For myself, I'll work on updating the news a bit more often. And again, if you come across any interesting stories or music, pass them along. As regrettable as it sometimes seems, as the calendar pages change so does life. I recently learned that Roadrunner Galleries has decided to close his website after nearly eight years. I wish him the best for the future and on behalf of Derek thank him for the all the original photography he has provided Derek to work with over the years. Updates with as yet un-posted Roadrunner pictures will continue along with a great many to be revisited. Comments? Questions? Suggestions? Email me. I check it weekly. 7/03/09: It's our birthday month here in the US so I'd thought I'd do it up a bit with a spattering of red, white and blue throughout the galleries. I chatted with Derek recently and am happy to tell you that he and Josh are doing just fine. Of course the responsibilities of living on their own conspire to consume their play time, but Derek has provided some new art and you'll see some of it in the next Gallery 1 update. Speaking of updates, contrary to what I announced in May, Gallery updates are scheduled to happen sometime between late Friday evening and noon on Saturday, US EST. Two new features have been added to the Links page. I've added a link to what I think is a fantastically written and gripping story, and a "Found Music of the Month" link. I'm always the last to stumble across "new" things, so if you have any suggestions please email them. Email will be checked weekly when updating. And can you believe it? Derek will be 21 this month! -MP

5/23/09: Beginning in June, updates will now occur late in the day on Saturday, US EST. -MP

4/04/09: Beginning with today's update you'll see some minor adjustments to the Galleries to make better use of the pictures Derek has worked his magic on.

Gallery 1 will be previously unposted Derek Art derived exclusively from the Beautiful Youth Project.

Gallery 2 will continue to feature Adam's Art.

Gallery 3 will feature both new and previously posted examples of Derek's Art from pictures provide by "Going Foto", "Roadrunner", "Made to Model".

Gallery 4 remains the Bonus Gallery and will be randomly updated, but not more than monthly. You never know what you'll find, so be sure to check it out. MP

1/03/09: Happy New Year. Here's hoping that 2009 is your best year yet. It seems remarkable that Derek's Universe has now seen 8 new years, and there are still so many more new pictures to be posted. Email should now be working again and will be checked weekly so send along your comments and questions. MP

10/04/08: It's the first full month of fall in the northern hemisphere (and the beginning of summer on the other side of the globe). Here at Derek's Universe we are inching our way toward 500,000 visitors. If you like what you see here, spread the word. And be sure to stop back - there are thousands of examples of Derek's art what have not yet been posted. Gallery updates will now be on the first, second and third weekend of the month. The Bonus gallery will remain flexible, most likely being updated on the forth or fifth weekend.

"Models Models Everywhere". If you have wondered about seeing the same model listed for different sites, here's the reason; Abra, Kadabra, Jake, Chuy, Mini Me and Pee Wee have modeled for both The Beautiful Youth Project and Made to Model. Before Foto had his own site (Foto_14 and now Going Foto) he provided some of his photos of Double Deuce (DD) to both Made to Model and Beautiful Youth. MP

7/19/08: Tomorrow, July 20th, is Derek's 20th birthday. Check out Gallery 4! To mark his birthday, for the first time the photographers from whose work Derek creates his art from have provided samples of their photography to be posted here in its original form. Some of these photos have not been posted anywhere before. Well over 100 photographs were provided, and while it was not possible to post them all today, I expect Dee will be quite busy this fall working his magic on all of these and they will eventually be seen here at Derek's Universe.

I have been able to restore the news from before June 2005 to early 2004. Hopefully I'll find 2007 soon. Or maybe there was no news then! MP

7/02/08: A day late, but phew, the latest updates are up. Another summer has begun in the Northern Hemisphere - don't forget to enjoy it. The next big day here will be Dee's birthday. On the 20th, he turns 20! Already? Look for a special update in Gallery 4 that weekend. MP

5/17/08: We're getting there. I think I've located all the files and can at least pretend that I know what they are. By the end of June we should be on the first and third week update schedule. Look for a bonus update on the 24th of May. Hopefully we'll have some news direct from Dee before long. MP

4/05/08:  Time. There's either too much, or never enough.
The past year has found D busy happily settling into life and life with Josh.
It has also found QB on the road with way too many obligations.
So I'll try to keep this wonderful site updated, starting now with Galleries 1 and 2.
There are hundreds of  unseen pieces of D's art to post and he's still creating more.
My goal is to update the site on the first and third weekend of each month.  MP

7/20/06: Today is D's 18th birthday, and the beginning of a new life for him. He's setting off with a lot of high hopes for the future, and also some sadness for the things he's leaving behind, one of which is that he'll be a bit removed from his site and from all of us who have become his loyal fans. Thank you D for trusting me with your site, and for sharing your art with me and with all of us, your talent still amazes us and your skill keeps improving. You didn't arrive at that by accident. You have the soul of an artist. It shows in all the work you create, and may it always show in everything you do. QB.

7/12/06: Hey again out there. Maybe you regulars have noticed that the update schedule has been kinda iffy lately. QB has been a traveling man for a bit over the last few weeks, and I'm sorry that the updates have been coming in slower. But we hope we made it up to you with TWO new updates this week, with great new photos in Gallery 4 on July 10 and more cool stuff in Gallery 2 today! And I have even better news -- the day our resident artist has been waiting for is fast approaching -- D turns the big ONE-EIGHT next week on July 20th! To celebrate, we'll be posting new stuff in Galleries 3 and 5 that night. It's a HUGE day for him with lots of changes, so drop by the guestbook or send him an e-mail to wish him a very happy 18th and all the best for his future (WITH JOSH!). 5/31/06: Hiya! I've been much too quiet on this page for much too long. I guess I've been taking the advice Michael left in the guestbook on May 9th. But if you've been hanging around here long enough you already know QB is an idiot -- he even refers to himself in the third person sometimes. But never mind that, I have BIG news. D finished high school! A year early! Not that he was in a hurry to get out of there or anything... but he was. He's got a lot of talent, as you know, and now that he's finally out of that place he's got the freedom to find his own path in life. Go to the guestbook to congratulate him and wish him luck! 1/25/06: Hi again DU fans! We finish January with a bang in Gallery 1. This is some of the best work yet from Beautifulyouth.com and D. Yeah, the files are kinda huge, but be patient -- they're worth it! Amazing, beautiful photos and absolutely fabulous artwork, in my admittedly biased opinion. I'm just the messenger so I can't take any credit, but if there was any doubt that this site keeps getting better all the time... Well, I just hope you love this update as much as I do. And congrats to D on turning 17 and a half! You're in the home stretch buddy. Finish strong -- we're proud of you... QB.

1/5/06: Happy New Year to everyone from Derek's Universe! This is going to be a huge year for D and hopefully for his many fans too. We'll kick off the new year with great new shots from FOTO_14 in Gallery 4. Make a resolution to check back often because we'll be updating a gallery almost every week. 9/18/05: yo!whats goin on with you all? im real sad lots lately cuz my josh is moved to his new job and got our dream house.its just gona be til i graduate before i can get out of here for good and be with him for ever. so please forgivve me if i get down or angry when i chat with anyone of you guys i will pull myself together but its just i miss josh so bad.even talking on the phohne and all the emails dont help just makes me miss him more and more. hes gona try to come back in december and when he gets custondy of his brothers kid he will feell lots better til i get out there. email me to say hi sometimes. i might put more of my art up thats not model related if anyone cares to get them. heres my first 2. 8/12/05: hey everyone! guess what guys? im gona be moving soon as i graduate here! josh put a offer to get a place and it was accepted!!! im gona have my own home soon!! im so excited istarted crying as soon as he got the call! this is so awesome i cant describe it. this is what i been waiting my whole life for to be with josh in our own place forever!!! well im sure ill get to tell you all about it more soon. thanks for all your support over the years i think my lifes only gonna get better from now on! im going from junior to senior and its gonna be so sweet to get out of here! wish me luck!!! 8/10/05: Sup? Im back from thetrip iwas forced to go on. my sites way behind but im trying to fix that. ijust need some time. my brother gets home next week if your looking for him. josh gets back from his last house visit hes putting a offer in soon theres 2 places he really likes and i like them all so icant wait til we got a place for ourselves! later dudes! 7/2/05: Josh is on the first of his 4 trips to look at houses for us to move to. He will put a offer on one by August and start moving in while i finish my school. When i graduate next year and turn 18 ill be able to move in with. Im still taking care of Jacob here while he looks for a place. I cant wait to move out of here! Oh yeah, i put a temporary site up and hopefully the webmaster that helps me will get it back up and running soon. D.

6/26/05: I just got new art to work on for BY. My brother worked on lots today to then he went out with his friends. I've been working on restoring my site ihope it looks ok when its back up. D.

2/21/04: Sorry everyone but i still cant update the gallerys ready for the update on my site. i moved the update dates back a couple more weeks so we can get everything right so you dont have to mess around with a half ready site. galery 4 is coming up soon so keep your fingers cross and thanks for everyone thats sending the supportive emails! beleive me im working really hard to get this to the point where tehre can be 2of us to update so its not just you waiting for me to get time. i am doing everything i can but school work is killing me and i have family issues right now that take most my time away everyday. please check back tho cuz soon its gona be ready to roll forward. 2/15/04: Hey everybody this is D's new webmaster QB. D has been very patient with me during the transition to my taking on some of the work for this site and it looks like we're finally ready to make the big handoff. Of course he is still the artistic force behind what you see here; I'll just be taking care of some of the labor. We're working on the next update now so stay tuned! QB

2/8/04: Im thinking of concentrating my work on gallerys 1 2 and 3. These are the ones i still get to do work for so i will have more to post on them then the other gallerys. Maybe gallery 4 and 5 can be combined into a gallery of "other stuff" that i used to do? Send your ideas to my email (take out the REMOVENOSPAM thing tho!) D.

2/7/04: My new webmaster QB now has 100% of my pix for the site. For now hes gona just keep the site as is and update the pix when the time comes. Im going to help him on the first update for Feb 21 and make sure he can do it before i let him go at it by himself! Nobody udnerstands how important this is to me and how bad i need to get my head in school. Iwill still be here but the hardest work will be handled by someone who actualy can do the hard stuff no sweat and gives me a break with that. Our new site email will be coming soon everyone! Adam's real sick but everyone that wishs him well hes really happy about that. Later. D.

2/1/04: My new webmaster QB now has about 60% of everything i got for my site so he can start working on uploads and stuff for the next update=Feb 21! Im going to help him do it rigth so everyone that knows how this page works wont be freaked by someone new loading up my art. Things will get better soon everyone. I got one major test out of the way a few weeks ago and thing are better since. When is summer coming I need a major break! Stay sweet. D.
